Role Overview
We are looking for a part-time Crisis Helpline Responder with experience in helpline counselling or crisis intervention. This role involves providing immediate support to individuals facing crises, including suicide bereavement, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. The ideal candidate should have completed Crisis Intervention or Suicide Prevention training and be able to handle high-risk situations professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer crisis hotline calls and provide immediate emotional support to individuals in distress.
- Offer evidence-based crisis counselling and de-escalation strategies.
- Assess caller needs and determine the level of risk, referring them to appropriate services if necessary.
- Conduct risk and lethality assessments for suicide-related cases.
- Ensure proper documentation of calls, including key issues and referrals made.
- Develop crisis management plans tailored to each caller’s needs.
- Make real-time decisions in high-pressure situations, ensuring the best course of action.
- Ensure a smooth handover process to the next shift personnel.
- Dedicate the entire shift exclusively to Intellect’s crisis helpline tasks.
- Comply with data protection regulations, including GDPR, to maintain confidentiality.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in helpline support (paid or voluntary).
- Ability to communicate effectively in native language.
- Experience handling high-risk clinical situations involving suicide or crisis cases.
- Strong emotional resilience to manage stressful interactions and high-risk cases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in mental health or emergency services.
- Training in Crisis Intervention or Suicide Prevention.
- Multilingual communication skills.
- Professional indemnity insurance.
